Abdulla Elyas

Dr. Abdulla Elyas is the Chairman of KSA and Co-Founder of Careem

Prior to joining Careem, Abdulla co-founded enwani, a cloud-based tech startup in Saudi Arabia focused on the home delivery industry that was acquired by Careem in 2014.

Passionate about building the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Middle East, Abdulla is focused on fast scaling businesses that leave significant impact on society and developing talent and future entrepreneurs.

Previously, Abdulla has led multiple management consulting engagements in Europe, the US, South East Asia and the Middle East and currently serves as a board member on a number of public and private companies.

Abdulla graduated with an MSc in Computer Science and holds a PhD in Business Administration honored with a Magna Cum Laude from RWTH Aachen.

Karim Kherani

Karim Kherani is Chief of Staff to the CEO and Head of the Careem Operating System.

When he is not helping drive CEO-related strategic initiatives for Careem as Chief of Staff, he is working with his team to evolve the Careem Operating System to simplify the lives of colleagues and improve the way the company works together.

During his three years at Careem, he previously worked on the Central Supply Operations team and Strategy team. Before joining Careem he was a consultant at McKinsey.

Karim graduated from the Richard Ivey School of Business (HBA) and Harvard Business School (MBA). He has family roots across North America, Asia and Africa and has spent his life living and working in each of the three continents.

Ankur Shah

Ankur is Chief Finance and Strategy Officer at Careem

Previously, Ankur managed education and India investments at Acumen Fund for seven years, and was a consultant at McKinsey & Company in New Jersey. He also developed 25+ libraries in New York City public schools for Robin Hood Foundation, now serving ~20,000 students; and was part of the founding team at, a marketplace for SMEs in the late 90s.

Ankur holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University, and a Master of Public Administration in International Development from Harvard's Kennedy School where he was a Reynolds and a Soros Fellow.

Wael Abouelella

Wael Abouelella is the MD of Careem Egypt.

A commercial and technology expert with more than 20 years of experience, Wael is focused on digital transformation, customer experience, marketing, customer care, strategy and business development.

Prior to joining Careem he was the Founder and CEO of GoChat247, providing digital customer support services to Egyptian and international businesses. GoChat247 was grown to over 20 million customers and 1.5 million transactions per day. Before this, he was the Chief Commercial Officer at Etisalat Egypt.

Wael earned a BSc degree in communication engineering, an MSc degree in computer communication, and MBA major International Marketing.

Will Anderson

Will Anderson is the Senior VP of Brand and Reputation, responsible for Careem’s global brand marketing, policy and communications.

Prior to Careem, Will was a partner at Brunswick, heading the Abu Dhabi office. Will has a long-standing career working across various industries and markets, managing complex corporate affairs topics, leading large teams and managing reputations for some of the biggest companies in the world.

A member of the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Will has an MBA from Cranfield University and enjoys sailing and keeping fit in his free time.

Sandeep Shetty

Sandeep Shetty is the MD of Ride Hailing at Careem. His responsibilities include managing cross functional teams (Product, Engineering, Operations, Design, Data Science etc.) to deliver across various functions in the organisation including (but not limited to) end to end demand and supply, marketplace, safety and fraud and new categories.

Sandeep has over 20 years of senior leadership experience in the US, India and UAE with McKinsey, GE Capital and Careem. Much of this experience has been highly entrepreneurial, ranging from setting up a consulting business in the US to developing and executing a strategy for the creation of a world class shared services company in Dubai.

Sandeep is passionate about building high performance teams and has deep expertise in developing strategy, transforming organisations and bringing structure and clarity to complex environments

Mudassir Sheikha

Mudassir Sheikha is the CEO and Co-Founder of Careem.

He started his career with Trilogy Software before joining San Francisco-based mobile experience startup Brience at the height of the dot-com bubble in March 2000. Mudassir then joined the founding team of mobile testing and monitoring startup, DeviceAnywhere, where among other things, he led its offshore development center in Pakistan. DeviceAnywhere was acquired by Keynote Systems, and Mudassir joined management consulting firm McKinsey & Company in Dubai.

In 2012, he left to build something big and meaningful with ex-McKinsey colleague Magnus Olsson. Their mission was to simplify and improve the lives of people in the Middle East region and build an awesome organisation that inspires. They founded Careem in 2012 and today, it is the leading technology platform for the region, operating in more than 100 cities in 14 countries, with 3000+ colleagues and more than one million Captains (drivers).

Mudassir graduated from the University of Southern California with dual degrees in Economics and Computer Science, and obtained his Masters in Computer Science with a specialization in Databases from Stanford University.

Ashish Jain

Ashish Jain is the Senior VP of Finance at Careem.

Currently he heads finance globally at Careem. Prior to this, Ashish was the Senior VP of Finance at Snapdeal, looking after finance, legal, and investor relations. Having advised and worked with firms across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and the United States in the past, Ashish brings over twos decade of operational experience, management consulting, and investment banking in the TMT sector across McKinsey, Telenor, UBS, and Altera.

Ashish holds an MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and enjoys playing sports.

Ruth Fletcher

Ruth is the VP of people at Careem.

Ruth Fletcher is the VP of People at Careem, responsible for human resources, colleague experience, talent acquisition, learning and development and diversity and inclusion.

Previously Ruth was the head of HR for Love Crafts, which was recognised by the Financial Times as one of the fastest growing European companies. Prior to this she worked as the head of HR at the global consulting firm Korn Ferry Hay Group, the director of HR at Dubai online retail portal as well as the business and HR director at Indigo Human Resources.

Ruth holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Modern History from the University of Oxford in the UK.

Magnus Olsson

Magnus Olsson is the Co-Founder of Careem.

Magnus started his first company at 15 - Olsson Solutions – to offer IT consulting for small and medium enterprises that couldn’t afford the likes of IBM, before studying computer science at Lund University in Sweden.

Post graduation, Magnus joined management consulting firm McKinsey & Company and soon after moved to the Middle East. He quit Mckinsey after five years to start something big and meaningful with ex-Mckinsey colleague Mudassir Sheikha. Their mission was to simplify and improve the lives of people in the Middle East region and build an awesome organisation that inspires. Careem was founded in 2012 and today, is the leading technology platform for the region, operating in more than 100 cities in 14 countries, with 3000+ colleagues and more than one million Captains (drivers).

When not at Careem, Magnus spends significant time mentoring start-ups and supporting the tech ecosystem. He lives in Abu Dhabi with his wife and two children.

Adeeb Warsi

Adeeb is the Managing Director of Mobility of Things at Careem.

In this role, Adeeb has started Careem’s journey in Online Food Delivery, LastMile Delivery and other B2C delivery use cases as Careem transforms into a Super App company. Previously he was the head of Strategy and Growth at the company.

Before joining Careem, Adeeb was a Principal at The Boston Consulting Group in London, Dubai and Los Angeles over a course of six years. During this time, he worked on Activist Investments, Technology, Industrial Goods, and Financial services related projects. He is also a graduate of General Electric Company’s leadership program and worked with multiple business units at GE in the US and Asia.

Adeeb holds a BE degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA degree from the London Business School.

Bassel Al Nahlaoui

Bassel is the Managing Director of Mobility of People and UAE/Pakistan.

Prior to this, Bassel was the Vice President of Business Development and Government Relations at Careem, looking after strategic partnerships and corporates sales across the region while working closely with governments to develop favourable regulatory frameworks.

Having advised and worked with firms across the Middle East and the United States in the past, Bassel brings over a decade of experience in management consulting and investment management.

Bassel holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University, USA. In his free time, he likes to spend time with his family and enjoys playing basketball.

Ibrahim Manna

Ibrahim is the Managing Director of Global Markets at Careem.

Ibrahim Manna initially joined Careem as the New Products Manager back in 2013, and today he is the MD of Global Markets (GM). He handles several responsibilities in more than eight different markets in the region, where he seeks new opportunities for distinct countries and cities, also assures to contribute great support towards the local team members in all the markets. He also strives to expand further in those markets as well as to ensure massive growth.

Manna has always been enthusiastic about entrepreneurship, where he was able to commence on his first venture at the age of eighteen.

From an attainment perspective, he is proud of being able to introduce one of the region’s first on-demand delivery platforms, called 'Wheels Express', where he was able to collaborate with more than 90 restaurants across Jordan. In addition, he co-founded a monthly event in Amman, titled 'Tech Tuesday', an initiative where he was able to gather young Jordanian entrepreneurs, to be able to share their views and discuss ideas related to entrepreneurial projects.

In his spare time, Manna enjoys the challenges of lateral market thinking, fishing and travelling.

Ibrahim has a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from Jami'at Amman Al-Ahliyya.
