More family reading time for Dubai homes as ‘caReads’ initiative continues into November
Free book ordering service extended for another month by popular demand
November 13, 2016 (Dubai) – Following the phenomenal success of the reading campaign, ‘caReads’, which aims to encourage parents and children to spend more reading time together, Careem and Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) have extended the initiative through to 30 November, 2016.
The community initiative allows parents to order books free of charge through the Careem app, followed by Careem Captains delivering them to homes across Dubai. For the month of November, parents can choose a delivery time between 1pm-5pm, Saturday through Wednesday - early orders are encouraged following the popularity of the initiative in October, when all slots were booked out.
Hind Al Mualla, Chief of Creativity, Happiness and Innovation (CHI) at Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, “The CaReads campaign has inspired the community to spend more time reading together and it has encouraged people to reconnect with books. By creating this opportunity for more people to read, we have shared happiness and spread smiles across the community.”
Parents are invited to share photos of the books being delivered, or reading together with their children with the hashtag #CaReads on social media channels.
The CaReads initiative builds on the success of #10Minutes10Days, a reading campaign which brought thousands of parents and children together to read for 10 minutes over 10 days.
How It Works:
- Download the Careem app for iPhone or Android
- Sign up and select ‘CaReads’ from the car type options
- Order the book by selecting an available delivery slot
- Open your front door and say hello to a new book!
