Our Story
Careem is the technology platform for our region. A region of over 600 million people that extends from Morocco to Pakistan, Turkey to Sudan. It’s an area of the world that up until now, has largely missed out on the transformational power of the internet revolution – but through its ambition and focus is catching up fast. Half of the population are under 25, and the same amount are connected to the internet yet only a small proportion have bank accounts, access to public transport and critical infrastructure.

What we do
Careem is becoming the backbone of our region’s digital future. Through our technologies, infrastructure, diverse and talented people, we’re creating work and wealth, safe transport and trusted online payments, and enabling widespread, digital participation. We’re working alongside smart thinking governments and leading non-state actors to help reshape agendas that will bring greater services to citizens so they can actively share in modern life. Collectively, we are empowering everyone in our region to realise their full social and economic potential.

At its core, Careem has a clear purpose: to simplify and improve the lives of people and build a lasting organisation that inspires. Every aspect of our decision making and value creation is focussed on this mission. Since forming in 2012, Careem has created over one million employment opportunities and generated over US$2 billion in earnings; we operate in 15 markets and are valued at US$3 billion. We care for the region and its long-term success. Our belief is that we succeed through a deep understanding, respect and love of our customers, colleagues and the communities we are blessed to serve.
How we do it
We’ve got a unique way of working at Careem. It’s our Careem Operating System and it’s the guide to achieving our mission effectively and productively. Mudassir Sheikha
Mudassir looks after growth and business performance. He spent a decade in Silicon Valley before deciding to do something truly meaningful.
Magnus Olsson
Magnus looks after product and technology. After moving to the region in 2006, he couldn’t wait to ditch his suit and tie and roll up his sleeves.
