What is the Send Abroad service?
This feature enables you to send money from the UAE to other countries using your added payment methods on the Careem app.
Send Abroad lets you transfer money from the UAE to other countries. It's a quick and easy way to support family, friends, or commitments back home.
Is Careem licensed for international transfers?
Careem Pay provides international money transfers in partnership with Lulu Exchange. This service is fully authorized and regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE.
How to use this service?
Simply follow the below steps:
1. Select ‘Pay’ from the app homepage.
2. Select ‘Send Abroad’.
3. Enter the amount you want to send in (or in the recipient's currency) and choose the destination country
4. Click on 'Continue'
5. If it’s a new recipient click on 'Add' on the top right corner
6. Select who you're sending the money to enter the required details
7. If it's an existing recipient, select your recipient from the list
8. Choose your payment method
9. Tap ‘Pay’ to complete the transferHow do I add a new recipient?

1. Click on 'Pay' from the home page
2. Enter the amount you want to send
3. Click on 'Continue'
4. Select 'Add' from top right corner
5. Fill in the recipient’s bank details or account number, full name, and nationality
6. Click on ‘Add’
7. Select your payment method.
8. Tap on "Pay" to complete the transferHow do I edit recipients?
Simply follow the below steps:
1. Click on 'Pay' from the home page
2. Enter the amount you would like to send
3. Click on 'Continue'
4. You will be shown a list of existing recipients.
5. Click on the 'three dots' next to the recipients name
6. Select 'See recipient details'
7. Click on the 'Edit/Pencil' icon on the top right corner
8. Enter the details you want to change.
9. Select ‘Save’How long does it take for the recipient to receive the money?
It typically takes a few minutes (up to the next working day in some cases) for your transaction to get verified. Once verified, the recipient will receive the money in their bank account instantly. We also operate 24/7 which includes weekends and holidays.
Please note first-time transactions or sending to specific accounts can take up to 24 hrs (or the next working day).
Where can I find my tracking number?
You will find your tracking number in your transaction history. Once the transfer is complete, you will also receive an SMS from our end.
Are there any limits on sending money abroad?
Yes, there are limits depending on how you send the money either from your Careem Wallet or using a card.

Min: AED 10Why did my transaction fail?
Your transaction could have failed for the following reasons:
- Expired Emirates ID
- There was an issue with card payment
- The IBAN was invalid or the account is closed
- The money was sent to a business account (only UK and India are supported)
- The receiver’s account limit has been reached
Why is my transaction still in progress?
Your transaction is still in progress due to one of the following reasons:
- Identity verification is in progress.
- Receiver verification is in progress.
- Delay from the receiver’s bank in accepting funds.
We will notify you as soon as the transfer is complete.
What if there are missing documents?
In case of a delayed transfer, we may request for additional documents* which are mandatory as part of the compliance protocol, knowing that all your data is secured every time you make a transaction with Careem Pay.
*Receiver ID card, sender bank statement (to check the source of funds), salary slip (to check the source of funds), receiver address proof
